Before you buy a house, you naturally want to know how much you can borrow. It is therefore wise to schedule an appointment with a financial advisor. He or she will look at your financial situation with you and give advice.

Work

It is often advisable to schedule an orientation meeting with a financial advisor. This is free of charge. During this conversation, your personal and financial situation will be discussed and your needs and options will be considered. During the interview, the financial advisor is required by law to check your identity, whether fraud has ever been committed and whether you have a staff sheet. In addition, they look at what you can afford to pay and how much risk you are willing to take. From this information comes advice on the most suitable financial product for you. The Financial Markets Authority (AFM) always checks this advice.

Independent

An independent financial advisor compares different parties and mortgage lenders. This is a good thing, because if he is not independent, he will only recommend the mortgage of his own bank. So it is wise to keep an eye on this and choose an independent financial advisor.

Mortgage closing

You can take out a mortgage without a financial advisor, but we always recommend getting advice, as it is a complicated financial product. The advantage is that the financial advisor is liable if he advises the wrong product. You can also go there for pensions, insurance, savings, investments and loans.

Cost

The financial advisor charges advisory and brokerage fees for his work. You have to pay this if you actually purchase a product through the advisor.
