Finding without searching

Thanks to Sake's quick response, we were able to buy our dream house after just the second offer. As first-time buyers, there were many things we weren't entirely sure about, but Sake took the time to fully guide us through the process. That gave us a sense of trust and reassurance. Thanks, Sake!

Great experience. I spent almost eight months looking for an apartment before Nobel Hypotheken recommended Sake from HomeUp, and the purchase process was resolved quite quickly afterward. I'd always thought hiring a real estate agent wasn't necessary and that I could just do it myself, but having a professional handle the negotiations and purchase had a significant and very positive impact on the final price.

When we were told that we had to leave our (sub)rented home within a short period of time and that there was nothing affordable to be found in the rental market, panic really set in. The fear of ending up on the street together with our seven dogs was very real, and our intensive search kept leading nowhere, time and time again.

At some point, I responded to a rental property offered by HoMeUp, and for the first time I was called back by the real estate agent within a short time. I honestly explained that we had several dogs, that we were being turned down everywhere, and that I was close to despair. Billy turned out to be a rock in the surf. Whenever I lost hope, he reassured me with the words that we really would manage to find something in time for us—although he was also honest in saying that it would be a challenge.

In the end, it didn’t become a rental home but a house to buy, exactly in the neighborhood where we so dearly wanted to stay. Thanks to Billy Brouwer from HoMeUp and his mortgage advisor Louis Collignon, we now have a wonderful home, despite our fairly limited budget and our pack of dogs. We were a challenge—that’s for sure—but one that Billy and Louis took on with great enthusiasm. To me, they have proven that miracles do still exist.

The race against the clock caused us enormous stress, but even though we didn’t really fit HoMeUp’s usual target audience, Billy and Louis did everything they could to help us. I will be forever grateful and will recommend you to anyone who is searching just as desperately as we were.

Sake helped us close on our dream house, where we didn't get a viewing until the closing date. Although it was a bit outside his area and not the most attractive offer, he convinced the selling agent to recommend us to the seller. I would recommend him to other expats in their search for a home in the Netherlands.
