More stories of first-time buyers who thought it was impossible to buy a home
I am a foreigner living in the Netherlands, and working with Sake as my real estate agent was an absolute game-changer. Making a big decision, like buying a house abroad, can be difficult, but he made sure the whole process went smoothly.
From the beginning, he took the time to understand my needs and concerns, especially given my unfamiliarity with the Dutch real estate market. He provided clear and comprehensive explanations of each step and was always available to answer my questions, no matter how small.
His expertise and knowledge of the local market were invaluable and definitely helped me secure a fantastic home at a great price!
Having Sake and Billy by my side during the purchase of my first home was a huge help. They really went out of their way to answer all my questions and made me feel comfortable throughout the process.
Very pleasant. Had the feeling that Sake really went that extra mile. The sale didn't go smoothly, but because of Sake it was completed with a very satisfied feeling. Quick contact, clear, helpful, just very good. Congratulations!
Owning my own house in Amsterdam started as a dream and has now become a reality because of the good guidance and quick action of Sake. There is a lot to deal with when buying a (first) house and Sake helped me with all the questions I had.
Thank you to Sake for helping us find our apartment. His market knowledge and patience allowed us to go through the process with confidence. When we finally found the right apartment, Sake negotiated with the owner to get the best possible deal for us. The communication was always friendly and the process went smoothly thanks to his approach and responsiveness. Moreover, the rates charged by homeup are more than reasonable considering the amount of work involved. Thank you for your support throughout the process, up to the final signing at the notary last week!
We came to Sake on the recommendation of good friends, after hearing their enthusiastic stories about him. And rightly so: within a short time we too were successful in the search for our new house!
Since then we have already recommended Sake to three friends and they too have now found a home. What is so great about Sake is that he always communicates quickly and clearly. He takes care of everything and takes you by the hand during the whole buying process.
In addition, he has a fantastic network in Amsterdam, which opens many doors. In short: if you are looking for a purchase broker who is decisive, has a large network and above all is pleasant to work with, definitely call Sake!
When we were told that we would have to leave our (sub)rented house within a short period of time and there was nothing affordable to find in the rental sector, panic set in. The fear of ending up on the street with our 7 dogs was real and our intensive search yielded nothing time after time. At one point I responded to a rental property that was offered by HoMeUp and (for the first time ever) within a short time I was called by the real estate agent. He told me honestly that we had a number of dogs, that we were missing out on everything and that I was close to despair.
Billy was a tower of strength, reassuring me every time I lost hope that we would find something in time, even though it would be a challenge (he was honest about that too). We ended up buying rather than renting, exactly in the neighborhood where we wanted to stay. Thanks to Billy Brouwer of HoMeUp and his mortgage advisor Louis Collignon, we now have a lovely home, despite our rather limited budget and our pack of dogs.
A challenge, that's what we were, but one that Billy and Louis took on with enthusiasm and they proved to me that the world is not yet over. I am forever grateful and will recommend you to anyone who is looking as hard as we were.Thank you both so much, especially for your moral support and approachability.I have been able to rely on you both completely, thank you.
Fantastic help from the guys from Homeup! Thanks to Sake's expertise and great communication, we felt confident throughout the whole process. We do not know if we would have succeeded in buying our house without his help. Sake, thank you very much! Highly recommend these guys;)
Provided me with excellent guidance on the purchase of my first home. Clear communication, professional and also gives unsolicited advice. Highly recommended!

Frequently asked questions about legal advice when buying a property
Do you have legal questions when buying a house? Here you will find the answers to the most frequently asked questions. We help you to clear all your doubts and uncertainties!
A purchase agreement is a legal document that sets out the agreements between the buyer and seller of a property. It is important because it protects the rights and obligations of both parties.
Easements are rights that one person has on another's property. Consider, for example, the right of way. They can affect the sale of your home because they pass to the new owner.
A resolutive condition is a condition in the purchase agreement that gives the buyer the right to dissolve the agreement. This may be the case, for example, if the buyer is unable to complete the financing.
The cooling-off period is the period in which the buyer can dissolve the purchase agreement without giving reasons. This period is legally set at three days after receipt of the purchase agreement.
At the notary, the purchase agreement is converted into a notarial deed. This deed is registered in the Land Registry, making the transfer of ownership official.
